About
Your Guide on the Path to Healing

My passion for helping others began over 25 years ago when I became a foster parent to children who had experienced significant trauma. That experience deeply shaped how I view healing, resilience, and the power of connection – and it led me to pursue a lifelong career in mental health.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s in Counseling from Wayland Baptist University. Over the years, I’ve served in various roles including parenting coach, family conflict specialist, and behavioral health hospital unit director. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked in private practice, providing evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan.
I specialize in working with people who are seeking deeper understanding, healing, and connection – within themselves and in their relationships. I am a Certified Sex Therapist, trained in EMDR, and draw from a range of therapeutic approaches including CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. My approach is integrative and tailored to fit each person’s needs and goals.
While clinical training is essential, I also believe that real-life experience brings something just as valuable to the therapy room. I was raised in Alaska, where I developed a grounded, straightforward approach to life. I spent over two decades as a military spouse, raising four children while moving across the globe. Later, I navigated the challenges of divorce, dating again, and forming a blended family. Today, I’m remarried and parenting teens alongside my husband – experiences that continue to teach me about growth, patience, and connection.
These life experiences allow me to relate to the real challenges my clients face, whether it’s rebuilding after loss, navigating relationships, parenting, or adapting to unexpected changes. Clients often tell me they feel seen and understood, not just by what I know professionally, but by what I’ve lived.
In therapy, I’m active, engaged, and down-to-earth. I bring both compassion and candor to my work, creating a space where clients feel safe to be honest and supported in making meaningful changes. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for something different, my goal is to walk with you toward clarity, healing, and growth – one step at a time.
Insurance, Billing, and Costs
Strengthened Heart Counseling is considered out-of-network with all insurance companies. Services provided by Strengthened Heart Counseling are billable to insurance if your insurance accepts out of network providers. After a counseling session, we will share a superbill, which is like a mental health invoice. This has all the procedure codes, diagnoses made, and costs billed to you so that you can submit to your insurance if you choose to do so. If your insurance company sends a refund, the check will come straight to you. You will always know the cost of the counseling session upfront so there will not be any surprise costs. We ask that a credit card is kept on file and you will be charged the day of the session. The counseling fees are as follows:
